Crossfire Fastpitch Softball - Who We Are

Crossfire Fastpitch Softball, based in Smiths Station, AL, was founded in 2014 by Darrell and Heather Hunter. At that time, their eldest daughter Haley, then just 9 years old, was actively participating in both travel and recreational softball. Recognizing a gap in local travel ball opportunities, Darrell and a few fellow coaches saw the potential of the advanced talent in Smiths Station but found no nearby travel organizations to cater to these skilled players. Driven by a vision to create a local travel team, Darrell aimed to provide these young athletes with a platform to develop and showcase their abilities.

Initially, Darrell’s goal was modest: to secure a college softball scholarship for at least one player. This dream rapidly materialized, and the organization flourished. Crossfire Fastpitch Softball’s mission became clear: to foster a team-first, family-oriented environment while maintaining affordability and equipping players with the tools and coaching necessary for success, both in softball and in life.

Over the years, Crossfire players and coaches have achieved notable success, including several national championships and podium finishes at the USFA World Series. Our players have competed across the Southeast, demonstrating their talent and determination. We take pride in our alumni who have realized their dreams of playing collegiate softball, thanks to the dedicated guidance and support from our experienced coaches and leaders.

Our team is dedicated to fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development. Join us as we compete in tournaments and showcase our passion for the game. Let’s play ball!

As a competitive travel softball organization based in Smiths Station, Alabama, we strive not only to excel in the sport but also to represent our families and community with class, sportsmanship, and pride.
